A slimy sweating brute I startle awake at 4 am to look Through the skylight at Amethyst clouds on a sapphire sky I close my eyes then Open but Only flat grey is above What was it I saw Was it a Respite from the Terror of my dreams or Craving for Deliverance

Rise in formation Full rank and file Hover above Clouds of evergreen Below Ice on the marsh Thin skin of it Thinner still on the river None on the bay Smoke of wood fire Scent permeates the house My clothes My hair Above Clouds A thin cotton skein Over the moon Dimly haunting us Here Below And I was grinding too
